# The app for iPhone, iPad and Mac

> How the Slicer app for iPhone, iPad and Mac differs from the web version: gestures, photo library, Share, the iPad sidebar, keyboard and trackpad.

The Slicer app is the same service as in the browser: the same screens, texts, settings and editor. The account is shared, so your projects, balance and connected social accounts are the same on the web and in the app. Only the input differs — touch and gestures instead of a mouse — plus system features: the photo library, Share and haptics.

## Which devices

- **iPhone** — in portrait orientation, with the same layout as the web on a phone.
- **iPad** — in all orientations. In landscape and on a large screen you get the wide-screen layout: a sidebar instead of the bottom tabs, projects as a grid of covers, editor panels next to the preview.
- **Mac** — the iPad version of the app from the App Store, in a resizable window. A wide window uses the same layout as the iPad.

## How the app differs from the web

| | Web | iPhone and iPad |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Media | pick files or drag them into the upload area | **Videos from library**, **Photos from library**, **From Files** |
| Project menu in the list | right-click a card | long-press a card |
| Save the reel | **Download** — a file in Downloads | **Save** — to Photos |
| Share | the browser's share menu with the file, if the browser supports it; otherwise the reel is downloaded and the post text is copied | the system Share sheet with the video file |
| Timeline | wheel, `Ctrl` or `⌘` + wheel, mouse drag, keyboard shortcuts | scroll with momentum, pinch to zoom, long-press to reorder and move |
| Sign-in with a provider | the provider's page in the same tab | the system browser; Apple — the system sheet |
| Buying a pack | the payment page in the same tab | the system browser, then back to the app |
| Connecting social accounts | a pop-up window of the platform | the system browser, then back to the app |

In the app, a long press works wherever the web uses right-click, hover or drag: reordering clips, moving elements, editing a caption phrase, the hint of a setting, the project menu. All gestures and keys — [Gestures and keyboard shortcuts](https://docs.slicer.media/en/guide/editor/shortcuts/).

> **Note.** The app passes photos from your library as compatible JPEG — the server does not accept HEIC, and you do not need to convert anything. Videos are uploaded as they are, without re-encoding.

## Keyboard and trackpad on iPad and Mac

With a hardware keyboard, the editor supports the same shortcuts as the web: `Space` — play and pause, `⌘ Z` (Mac) / `Ctrl Z` (Windows) — undo, `←` `→` — one frame, and more. Two-finger scrolling on the trackpad scrolls the timeline, and a trackpad pinch zooms it.

## Payments

Token packs in the app are bought just like on the web: the app opens the payment page in the system browser and brings you back to **Balance** after payment. Tokens are shared across all devices. More — [Balance and packs](https://docs.slicer.media/en/guide/account/balance/).
