## About the service

### What is Slicer?

Slicer is an AI editor for vertical videos — Reels, Shorts and TikTok. You upload videos, photos, music or a voice-over and pick a style, and the AI cuts pauses and slips, frames the shot in 9:16 and adds captions, camera motion, emoji, callouts and sound effects. More — [What is Slicer](https://docs.slicer.media/en/guide/).

### Do I need editing skills?

No. The AI director assembles the reel and checks the finished result itself. If you want to fix something, the editor has every tool at hand, and the AI assistant takes commands in plain words — for example, “Make it more dynamic”.

### Where does Slicer work?

In the browser on a phone or computer and in the app for iPhone and iPad. On a Mac, the iPad version of the app runs. The account is shared — start a project on your phone and finish it on your computer. More — [The app for iPhone, iPad and Mac](https://docs.slicer.media/en/guide/apps/).

### What language should the speech be in?

The AI detects the language of the speech in your video. The Slicer interface is in Russian and English, and the captions of a finished reel can be translated into another language in the editor.

## Pricing

### What does a reel cost?

A reel costs 24 tokens — that is a finished reel checked by the director, edits and export at no extra cost. Tokens are bought in packs in the **Balance** section. AI operations in the editor are paid separately. More — [Tokens, packs and the free reel](https://docs.slicer.media/en/guide/pricing/).

### Can I try it for free?

Yes. The first reel on an account is free, with a “Slicer” watermark. After you buy any pack, this reel is re-rendered without the watermark for free.

### What if the montage fails?

The tokens return to your balance, and the project shows up under the **Failed** filter. Tap **Retry** — the montage continues from the failure point.

### Is export paid?

No. Export, manual edits and style changes are free, and you can export as many times as you like.

## Media

### Which files can I upload?

Video (.mp4, .mov, .m4v, .webm, .mkv, .avi) — up to 10 files, up to 2 GB each and 30 minutes in total. Photos (.jpg, .png, .webp) — up to 15. Audio (.mp3, .m4a, .wav and more) — up to 3 files. Up to 20 files in total. More — [File formats and limits](https://docs.slicer.media/en/guide/help/files/).

### Can I shoot horizontally?

Yes. Slicer reframes horizontal videos and photos to 9:16 and keeps the speaker in the shot.

### Can I make a reel without my own speech?

Yes. Upload B-roll, photos and music — the director cuts a reel to the music. Or turn on **AI voiceover** in the **Smart cut** settings: the AI writes a script from your footage and voices it.

### How long will the reel be?

The AI montage makes a reel up to 90 seconds: in **Auto** mode — usually 20–60 seconds, or exactly the length you picked in **Reel length**. In the editor the reel can be extended to 180 seconds.

## Montage

### How long does the montage take?

Usually a few minutes: the director builds the reel and checks it itself. You do not need to wait on the screen — the montage runs on the server, and you can close the tab or the app.

### How many versions of the reel does the director make?

One. Once the reel is built, the director reviews it in playback order and fixes the logic and order of the clips — so there is nothing to pick: the finished reel opens in the editor right away. Every rebuild, retry, style change and export adds a new version, and the earlier ones stay in the project history — you can make any of them current at any time, including by asking in the [chat with the director](https://docs.slicer.media/en/guide/ai/chat/#versions). More — [How the director works](https://docs.slicer.media/en/guide/ai/director/#self-check).

### Can I change the style after the montage?

Yes, for free: font, accent and captions change in the project's **Settings** section, the changes show up in the editor right away, and export updates the video. Montage settings — emoji, cards, the hook, direction — change with a [rebuild](https://docs.slicer.media/en/guide/projects/remount/).

## Publishing

### Which social networks can I publish to?

Instagram (Reels), YouTube (Shorts), TikTok and VK Video — right from the export window. Connect your accounts in **Profile** → **Social accounts**. More — [Connecting social accounts](https://docs.slicer.media/en/guide/publish/social/).

### Why does TikTok not accept my reel?

TikTok does not accept videos with a watermark. Buy any pack — the free reel is re-rendered without it.

## Data

### How long are my files kept?

Sources — 7 days after the last work on the reel, finished reels — until you delete the project. More — [Data storage](https://docs.slicer.media/en/guide/help/data/).

### Who can see my videos?

Only you. Files and texts are stored encrypted, and there are no links to them without signing in. More — [Security](https://docs.slicer.media/en/security/).

### Can I control Slicer from code or through an AI agent?

Yes. There is a [public API](https://docs.slicer.media/en/api/) and an [MCP server](https://docs.slicer.media/en/mcp/) for any AI assistant that supports MCP: the assistant edits the video itself with editor commands, for free. Tokens are created in **Profile** → **For developers**.
