# Tokens, packs and the free reel

> How payment works in Slicer: tokens and packs, what is free, what a montage costs, why AI operations are charged at cost, the free first reel and refunds.

Work in Slicer is paid with tokens — the service's internal currency. Tokens are bought in packs in the **Balance** section and are spent only on what the AI does: the montage, rebuilds and AI operations in the editor. Everything you do by hand, and exporting the reel, is free.

## What is free

- **Your first reel** with the AI director — with a “Slicer” watermark (see below).
- **An Edit it myself project** — editing by hand without the AI director, export with no watermark ([Project without AI](https://docs.slicer.media/en/guide/projects/manual/)).
- **Export** — with any file settings and publishing to social media. Manual projects have up to 30 exports a day. Only [AI upscaling to 4K](https://docs.slicer.media/en/guide/publish/export/#upscale) is paid, if you choose it.
- **Manual edits** in the editor: caption text, clips, transitions, effects, color, music, elements, titles, aspect ratio, cover.
- ****Cut pauses**** — remove silence ([more](https://docs.slicer.media/en/guide/editor/speech/#pauses)).
- **Style changes** in **Settings**: font, accent, captions, sound effects, intro push-in.
- ****Remove filler words (free)**** in the AI assistant.
- **Retrying a free run** — if a free montage failed.

## What is paid

| Operation | Price |
| --- | --- |
| Reel montage by the AI director (with a self-check of the finished reel) | 24 tokens |
| Rebuild with new settings | 24 tokens |
| “Edit with the AI director” in a manual project | 24 tokens |
| AI operations in the editor: captions from speech, AI assistant, translation, AI effect, background removal, face tracking, voice isolation, AI avatar, dubbing into another language, a media card image from a description, object removal | at cost |
| AI upscaling to 4K on export | at cost |
| The director's answers in the project chat (**Chat with the director**) | at cost |

Slicer shows the price of a paid operation before it starts — on the button or in the confirmation sheet. The full table with explanations — [Operation prices](https://docs.slicer.media/en/guide/help/prices/).

## AI at cost

A montage by the AI director is a product with a fixed price. Individual AI operations in the editor cost exactly what the AI service charges for them — with no markup. The operation's sheet says so: **Costs exactly what the AI service charges, no markup. The actual price is charged — never more than shown.**

1. **Before it starts**, Slicer works out the price from the amount: seconds of video, minutes of audio, length of text. The price is on the button, with “≈” and rounded up to a tenth. For the AI assistant, translation and face search the exact usage isn't known in advance — there it says “≈ price, at most the limit”.
2. **While the operation runs**, the price is reserved on your balance, rounded up to a whole token — so you need at least one free token to start.
3. **Afterwards** the actual cost is charged, but never more than shown: if the AI service charged more, Slicer pays the difference itself. If it fails, the reserve is returned.

Your balance is kept in whole tokens. Fractions of a token from inexpensive operations add up in the project and are charged once they make a whole token — with no rounding up on every operation.

## How tokens are charged for a montage

1. When a montage starts, tokens are **reserved** — the run card shows “Tokens reserved: …”.
2. When the reel is ready, the reserve is **charged**.
3. If the montage fails or you stop it, the reserve is **returned** to your balance and the project is marked “Tokens refunded”.

Tokens are charged for the whole reel, not for individual stages: the run card only shows each stage's share of the price.

## The free first reel

- The first montage on an account is free: the start button says **Free**, and the project list shows **Your first reel is free**.
- The reel carries a “Slicer” watermark.
- After you pay for **any** pack, Slicer re-renders this reel without the watermark for free — no tokens are charged for it.
- The free reel is available if your email is verified or you signed in with VK ID, Google or Apple. It is given once per email — even if you delete the account and sign up again.
- After your first pack purchase the free reel is no longer offered: it exists so you can try the service before paying.

> **Caution.** TikTok does not accept videos with a watermark. To publish your first reel to TikTok, buy a pack — the watermark disappears after the re-render.

## Packs

Packs are shown in **Balance** and during sign-up. The default packs as of 16.10.2026:

| Pack | Reels | Tokens | Price |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Starter | 10 | 240 | 1,490 ₽ |
| Active (**Popular**) | 25 | 590 | 3,490 ₽ |
| Content factory | 50 | 1,170 | 6,490 ₽ |

Packs and prices may change — the current ones are always in **Balance**. Below the packs it also says what a reel up to 90 seconds costs. Payment goes through YooKassa; how to buy a pack — in [Balance and packs](https://docs.slicer.media/en/guide/account/balance/).
