What is Slicer
Slicer edits your videos, photos and audio into a vertical reel with captions, camera motion and effects. How the service works and where to start.
On this page
Slicer is an AI editor for vertical videos. Shoot on your phone however you like — a talking head, B-roll, a product, a vlog. Upload videos, photos, music or a voice-over, pick a style, and in a few minutes you get a finished 9:16 reel for Reels, Shorts and TikTok. Then you can polish it in the editor and publish it to social media right from Slicer.
What the AI does
- Cutting. Removes pauses, slips, retakes and filler words and puts the strongest moments in a clear order. If you like, it writes a hook — a catchy line for the first seconds.
- Framing. Builds a vertical frame: the speaker always stays in the shot, horizontal videos and photos are reframed to 9:16. Smooth push-ins on key phrases and changes of framing — like a pro editor.
- Captions. Stylish word-by-word captions with highlights in your font and color.
- Graphics and sound. Emoji, text callouts, media cards with illustrations, subtle sound effects on cuts, music that ducks under the voice, loudness normalization.
- Direction. The director takes the video type, pace and your notes into account, builds the reel and then reviews the finished result itself, fixing the logic and order of the clips.
- Media. Photos appear where they are mentioned, B-roll covers speech by meaning, music plays underneath, and a voice-over becomes the narration while the director picks visuals for it. No speech of your own? Turn on the AI voiceover.
How Slicer is organized
The home screen is Projects. Each reel lives in its own project: media, settings, version history and the editor.
New project
The New project button asks How shall we edit it?. With the AI director opens a three-step wizard: style → captions and options → media and launch. Details are in the tutorial. And Edit it myself is a free project that opens straight in the editor (A project without AI).
Montage
Tap Create reel. The montage runs on the server: you can close the tab or the app, and the run card shows progress by stage. A reel costs 24 tokens; the first one is free.
The finished reel
The director checks the finished reel itself, and the project opens in the editor — there is nothing to pick. Earlier versions of the reel stay in the project history.
Edits
The Editor section is a full-width timeline: caption text, clip order and length, transitions, effects, color, music, elements and the AI assistant. Edits are free and show up in the preview right away.
Export and publishing
Export renders the file with the settings you choose and, if you have connected social accounts, publishes the reel to YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and VK. Export is free.
Where it works
- Web — in any modern browser on a phone or computer. On a wide screen you get a sidebar, projects as a grid of covers, editor panels next to the preview, mouse and keyboard shortcuts.
- The iPhone and iPad app — the same screens and features, gestures instead of a mouse, the photo library and Share. On a Mac, the iPad version of the app runs. More in The app for iPhone, iPad and Mac.
One account works everywhere: start a project on your phone and finish it in the browser on your computer.
What it costs
Slicer runs on tokens. A reel costs 24 tokens; export and manual edits are free, and AI operations in the editor are paid separately. Your first reel is free, with a watermark. Details — Tokens, packs and the free reel.
