History and versions

The project History tab — reel versions with covers, going back with “Make current” and a log of all work on the reel.

On this page

Slicer records every piece of work on a reel: the montage, rebuilds, exports, AI effects, translation, assistant commands, publications. Each successful render becomes a version of the reel — you can go back to it if you like the new one less.

History lives in the Media section, History tab.

Step 1 of 5

Step 1 of 5
  1. Media → History: the “Video versions” strip and the “Log”
  2. Tap the “Version 2” cover — a sheet with that version's video
  3. Tap “Make current” — the “Restore version 2?” confirmation
  4. Confirm — “Version 2 is current now”, the “Current” mark on its cover
  5. Scroll the Log: entries with statuses, price and time

Video versions

The Video versions strip shows the covers of all versions, newest first. The current one is marked Current; under each — the number, duration and date.

Tap a cover to open a sheet with the version's video and the kind of work that produced it: First montage, Re-edit by the director, Export from the editor and others.

How to restore a version

  1. Open the version you need and tap Make current.
  2. Confirm: the video and the editor go back to this version. The current one stays in the history — you can return to it too.
  3. You will see Version 2 is current now, and the log gets a Version restored entry.

After restoring, the editor shows that version's document — continue editing from it.

Log

The Log lists all work on the reel, newest first. Each entry shows:

  • the kind of work: First montage, Re-edit by the director, Style change, Montage retry, Export from the editor, AI effect, Fragment processing, Audio extraction, Caption translation, Dubbing, AI assistant, AI avatar, Social post, Director’s version, Version restored, Captions from speech, Face tracking, Card from a description, and for a manual project also Preparing the files;
  • the status: Queued, In progress, Done, Error, Cancelled;
  • details: version number, export file settings, translation language, how many edits the assistant made, the AI effect range, the price in tokens;
  • the date and how long the work took.

An entry with a version opens its sheet. A Social post entry for a published reel opens the post on the platform in a new tab.

Fine points

  • An AI montage delivers one version, checked by the director, and it is current right away. The reel from before a rebuild or retry stays in the history: you can make it current at any time — here or by asking in the chat with the director: “bring back the previous version”.
  • An export creates a new version even if you changed nothing in the editor.
  • Deleting a project deletes the files of all its versions.
  • How the director thought during each montage, why it built the reel this way and what it fixed during the self-check — in the journal of the chat with the director.
